Aswani was elected to the Society’s Executive during the SCPS AGM 2021. Currently, Aswani sits on the Meetings and Seminars, ECMO and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion subcommittees. Aswani sits on the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion subcommittee for the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons.
Aswani is experienced in all aspects of adult perfusion specifically ECMO and its service development and regulation.
Aswani graduated from St. George's, University of London in 2010 with a BSc Honors in Biomedical Science. After a number of years in the stem cell industry, Aswani commenced her Perfusion career at the John Radcliffe, Oxford University Hospitals in2013. During her time at the John Radcliffe, Aswani gained experience in a wide range of perfusion techniques including complex aortic surgery and GUCH surgery. In 2018, Aswani gained a senior Perfusionist role at Barts Health NHS Trust in 2018, where she underwent further training in ECMO and hybrid ECMO procedures. Aswani was appointed to the ECMO team in 2019, where she assisted in the radical transformation of the existing ECMO service during the COVID-19pandemic to meet the increased demands at Barts which held surge commissioned status.
